Starting a weight-loss journey for the first time is overwhelming, especially if you’ve tried to lose weight over and over again. It could be that you just have a few pounds to lose, or a few dress sizes; Whatever the reason, what’s important is that you are starting and importanter 😂, you’re doing it for “YOURSELF” 😉. Here are 5 things to do before you start a weight loss journey…
1. Do your Research: Knowledge is power! The last thing you want to do is start your weight loss journey without getting all the basic or prior knowledge you need. Read up things about how to lose weight, the kind of food you should be eating, the kind of exercise you need to be doing so that you can lose whatever body fat you want. Also, research so that you can know what works for you and see if you can afford it. It is really important to research because if you don’t plan yourself very well, you might end up starting something that is more than you can afford or maintain and next thing you know, you’ve gone off track the whole weight loss journey. This is what you do not want happening to you at all.
2.Buy items that you need:Part of the things you’ll have to get would be food stuff you’ll be eating like fruits, vegetables. Clear out your fridge & store from all the unhealthy food items in preparation of the new way of life you’re about to start. Other things may include getting your exercise outfit (sports bra, shorts or trouser pants, canvas) you can get your workout mat, skipping rope, pocket blender. You don’t have to buy it all at once, you can start by getting the basic things first.
3. Measure your inches: It is important that you check your weight, measure your body parts like your waist so you know what you weigh now and you can gradually track your progress when you start your weight loss journey.
4. Take a lot of pictures: Pictures! Pictures! Pictures! It definitely would feel good when you look back on how you were before you started and how you look after you’ve started. That’s why taking a picture is good too, it keeps you motivated.
5. Do a small calendar plan to track your progress: Losing weight is not as easy as it sounds. The purpose for this calendar is to challenge yourself to do your workouts, follow your meal plan and not go off track. So your calendar can be for a month or even a week and every day you mark it on your calendar whenever you do them. When you see the constant marks on your calendar, it motivates you to keep pushing.
